The 33^rd National Seminar on Public Informatics (SECOP 2005) brought together more than 600 persons including managers, employees and guests of the Brazilian Association of State Information and Communication Technology Companies(ABEP). All 26 states and the Federal District (Brasília) were represented. 

Dr. Peter Knight, President of Telemática e Desenvolvimento was invited by Carlos Farache, President of the Information Technology Agency of Pernambuco (ATI), the host of the event, to help in organizing the First International Seminar on Public Informatics (I SIIP), a parallel seminar integrated into the SECOP Program.

The SIIP had four sessions  – a panel on e-Brasil on the afternoon of October 13, an international keynote speech by Dr. Nagy Hanna (Co-Diretor Of the E-Leadership Academy Initiative at the University of Maryland in the US and a member of the Advisory Council of the e-Brasil project) just before the awarding of the annual e-government prizes on the evening of the 13th, a panel on International Finance of e-Government projects on the afternoon of October 14,  and an international keynote speech by Dr. Yuri E. Hohlov (Chairman  of the Board of Directors of the Institute of the Information Society, Russia, and a member of the e-Brasil Advisory Council) on the evening of October 14, just before the closing cermony of SECOP 2005.
